Of Mice and Humanity

Of the mice:
A Human Language Gene Changes the Sound of Mouse Squeaks
Isn't it awesome that a mutation within our species had such a profound impact on our social development? Sure, mutations are often thought of as bad in the movies. I think it is awesome that our existence is owed largely to the cascade of chance occurrences. It really bolsters my faith in the power of the universe to overcome our failings.

And the humanity: a story about the modern interpretation of the Underground Railroad:
A Bike Trail That Traces the Way to Freedom
that leads to this site:
National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
I love the strength, and compassion of committed individuals, as evidenced by those who risked their lives and families to give aid to the brave and tragic individuals escaping towards freedom. I hope that if I had lived then, I would have had to courage to help them as well. The Underground Railroad bolsters my faith that we have the power to overcome our failings.
